THORNBURY toddler Ezzy Hodge, whose fundraising campaign to walk has now passed £20,000, joined Bristol’s mayor to open a children's charity’s new offices.

Three-year-old Ezzy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy early last year, having been born 11 weeks early, resulting in her parents launching the “Ezzy’s Wish to Walk” campaign, aiming to raise £80,000 to send her to America for surgery which is not available on the NHS in the UK as well as physiotherapy.

As one of the campaign’s biggest supporters, the Darren Wright Foundation, who offer fundraising advice to families of disabled children, and have given Ezzy’s parents Angela and Matt direction, invited Ezzy to open their new offices in Filwood Green Business Park in Bristol alongside the charity’s founder Scott Wright and Bristol’s lord mayor, Cllr Jeff Lovell.

“Ezzy was a little tired when she arrived but she soon woke up and was very excited to be there,” said Angela.

“It was great to be invited to the opening of the offices, Scott Wright at the foundation has been so unbelievably helpful with his advice on fundraising, as well as the support his volunteers have given us during our bucket collecting.”

The campaign has also celebrated passing the £20,000 mark this weekend, a quarter of the way to their final goal of £80,000, with bucket collecting now also taking place in the Tesco store in Thornbury.

“With the support we have received so far and the way the public has talked Ezzy into their hearts, we can now start to truly believe we can get our little girl the help she so desperately needs.

“But the work is not yet done and we will still need everyone’s help to make Ezzy’s wish to walk come true!”
