POLICE have condemned vandals in Thornbury after mysterious stickers have cropped up around the town to cover road signs.
The stickers, which show an elephant with a heart inside, and letters - including its trunk - spelling the word "sad", also have the word "ssshhh!" over the top.
While not causing any real damage, the obstruction of signs can be an inconvenience to residents and motorists, as well as an unnecessary waste of council time and money.
Thornbury Police have highlighted their disapproval of the act in a tweet, labelling the act as criminal damage.
The tweet said: "If you are the person sticking these all over town, it needs to stop."
They added that is criminal damage to cover signs.
