SWIMMERS will take the plunge in Thornbury this weekend for the Rotary Club’s annual swimarathon.
The charity team event, which will run from Friday evening until Sunday at Thornbury Leisure Centre, will be hoping to match last year’s record fundraising, which amazingly raised more than £20,000.
With 67 teams already taking part, fundraising this year will primarily go towards St Peter’s Hospice and Incredible Kids, with other good causes set to benefit.
A spokesman for Thornbury Rotary Club said: “It was a fantastic effort last year and we are delighted that we have so many teams ready to take part in 2017.
“We’d like to thank everyone for supporting this charity event, particularly our main sponsor Berkeley Vale Motors”
Thornbury mayor Cllr Helen Harrison will start the swimarathon on Friday evening, but teams are encouraged to still enter with spaces still available at 8.15pm on Saturday.
To sign up, contact Adrian Dennis by calling 07970 435520 or emailing swimarathon@thornburyrotary.org
