TWO pupils at a school in Tockington have chopped off their locks for a charity that supports children suffering from hair loss.

Carmen Rey-Jones, 12, and Isabelle Preston, 12, are donating 13 and 11 inches of hair respectively to the Little Princess Trust, who provide wigs and hair pieces for children suffering from hair loss as a result of cancer and other illnesses.

The girls received hair cuts from Carmen’s mother, Brigitte Jones, on Sunday, March 19.

Hairdresser Brigitte explained that her daughter was prompted to make a donation after hearing stories of children suffering from conditions that lead to hair loss.

She said: “I’ve been on at Carmen for ages to cut her hair, and recently she came up to me and said that she would like to donate it to charity.

“After talking to her friend Isabelle at school, they both decided to get a haircut and raise money at school.

She added: “I’m so proud of them both, it’s a very worthwhile cause.”

The two twelve-year-olds have raised an addition £900 for the Little Princess Trust, after being sponsored by their fellow pupils at Tockington Manor School.

They are hoping to break the £1,000 barrier as soon as possible, and are inviting donations from members of the public.

Those wishing to donate can contact the Gazette for Brigitte’s contact details.
