TWO LUCKY South Gloucestershire residents are celebrating winning an incredible £30,000 each thanks to their postcode.

Nicholas Urch and neighbour Glenn Collins, who both live on Stroud Road in Patchway, won big in this week’s People’s Postcode Lotter’s Street Prize.

Mr Urch, 52, said he had decided to play when he moved to the area 18-months ago.

He said “I thought it would be good to sign up with a brand new postcode, but I never thought I’d win this much.”

The win had also delighted his brother, he said, who he said he would be spending some of the money on, treating them both on a trip to Spain later this year.

He added: “I would love to get a lodger at some point but I’ll need to get the house up to scratch – this money will really help.”

Meanwhile Mr Collins, who was equally delighted when he was presented with the cheque, said how much of a shock it was when the doorbell rang.

He said: “I was very surprised that more of my neighbours don’t play.

“We have a holiday coming up so that will help with spending money and then we may even look into getting a conservatory.”

People’s Postcode Lottery Ambassador and former X-Factor contestant Danyl Johnson, said: “I really enjoyed meeting Glenn and Nicolas today. I hope they both enjoy spending their winnings.”

A minimum of 30 per cent of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than £182million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A project near the winners that has received support from players is Southern Brooks Community Partnerships, which was awarded £15,065 last year for the Patchway Green Spaces project.
