AVON Fire Authority has appointed a new chairman.
Cllr Donald Davies, an independent member of North Somerset Council, replaces Bristol councillor Peter Abraham, who had held the role since 2015.
The Avon Fire Authority (AFA) provides Avon Fire and Rescue Service, owning the land, buildings, vehicles and equipment it uses.
Councillors from South Gloucestershire, Bristol, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset are appointed to oversee the running of the service.
Cllr Davies, who has served on the authority since May 2015, received cross-party support for his appointment during a vote held on Monday.
During the extraordinary meeting on Monday, members also discussed the representation process in response to the statutory inspection of AFA ordered by the Home Secretary.
The authority has been invited to provide final representations ahead of the publication of the report.
