COMMUNITY radio in Thornbury is set for its grand relaunch next week.

Gloss FM, which first started as Thornbury FM in 2005, announced it would be making a return to the airwaves back in May.

Beginning its broadcast on Saturday, July 29, with a live show from 9am to 11am, organisers Glyn Roylance and David Wrench will be joined by presenter Chris Criddle for plenty of music and chat, while discussing the exciting new shows.

“It will be great to bring back local radio to Thornbury,” said Glyn, one half the not-for-profit organisation Thornbury Media Community Interest Company.

“We want it to be part of the fabric of the town and for as many people as possible to be a part of this venture.”

To start with the station will run from Glyn’s home in Olveston, within a home studio that he has built.

But he said that this would only be the start of the project, with phase two trying to find a more permanent home.

The station rebranded as Gloss FM in 2010 as it attempted to cover all of South Gloucestershire, but came to an end a year later after issues with obtaining an FM frequency licence.

Many who were involved in the project in the past went onto careers in journalism
