TO WITNESS your family business being attacked like the shop in Pilning must be a harrowing experience.
The ram-raid attempt earlier this week would have shaken almost anyone to the core if put in the situation of the Shamim family, so to see them open for business as usual the same day was remarkable.
Many people in the village rely on the Londis as it’s also the post office, so the resilience of the family to open for customers was admirable.
However, the Shamims quite rightly are now living in fear of another ram-raid as they believe their shop is seen as an easy target by thieves.
So their plan to prevent any more attacks, by installing shutters or bollards, must be permitted by South Gloucestershire Council – clearly the shop needs bolstered security measures to ward off thieves.
Clearly the culprits for this ram-raid were far from criminal masterminds. Not only did they fail to get inside the shop, they were also captured on CCTV while carrying out their bungled raid.
Hopefully a prison cell awaits them.
