A PRIMARY school in Thornbury is set to host its first ever fun run, with entries now open.

The Crossways School Fun Run, which will take place on Sunday, September 17, will feature a 1km and 5km course around the school fields and surrounding pathways.

Starting at 10.15am with a group warm-up, the 1km race begins at 10.30am, with the 5km race 11am.

Wristbands will be awarded to people who complete the race, with trophies for winners of categories.

School governor Emma Aiken-Jones said: “We are really excited about starting this event, which we hope will continue for many years.

“It will be a fantastic opportunity for the school and the community to come together for a fun sporting morning.

“It will be continuing the great work the school already does to encourage the children to have active healthy lifestyles, whilst also raising funds for the school.”

Entry costs £3 for the 1km race. For the 5km race, it is £3 for under-16s and £6 for adults, with a £2 premium for entries on the day
