Dursley ticks the boxes for home hunters

RECENT research and surveys indicate house hunters consider many factors when choosing their future neighbourhood. Although in the South West the key consideration is ‘good amenities’ there are a number of other important requirements which influence buyers as follows:

1. Good amenities

2. Off road parking

3. Clean and attractive surroundings

4. Low crime rate

5. Access to transport links

6. Proximity to work

7. Close to friends and family

8. Good schools

9. Average house price

10. Rural aspect

Richard Mace at Besley Hill believes Dursley and the surrounding towns and villages offer the majority of home buyer’s top priorities.

With the significant investment we’ve seen in Dursley, the town now offers excellent facilities. Supermarkets and independent shops have been complimented by a number of cafes and restaurants, there is a new hospital and the sports centre/swimming pool complex is a real bonus for the town. We have leading local schools with Rednock and highly rated junior and infant schools. The whole town has a different vibe about it and of course remember the setting surrounded by the magnificent Cotswold Escarpment attracting visitors to the Cotswold Way.

I think we take a lot of what we have for granted with low crime rates compared to cities, along with excellent access to transport links with the M5 and Cam Station, making Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester and London daily commuting options. Affordable house prices are also an attractive factor, especially when compared to Bristol where similar properties can be 25-30 per cent higher in value.

Our area offers many advantages over living in the city, with stunning rural surroundings providing lovely walks and rides, Stinchcombe Hill and Cotswold Edge Golf Courses and above all there is a true sense of local community and warmth, you certainly don’t find in city life.

With a varied mix of housing and new home developments, home buyers have plenty of options to choose from and more are discovering that the Dursley area ‘ticks the boxes’.
