POLICE are appealing for the public’s help following a serious road traffic collision in South Gloucestershire on Saturday that left a woman hospitalised.

The incident happened about 2.30pm on Severn Road, near Hallen.

A blue Citroen Xsara was travelling towards Hallen and had just crossed over the bridge which spans the M49 when it left the carriageway on the nearside and was in collision with a three and ending up in a roadside ditch.

The woman driving the car, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

Police have carried out a detailed examination of the scene and the road was re-opened at about 7.20pm.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have information to help their enquiries.
