LES Loosemore visited us from over the bridge in Wales.

His talk, entitled ‘City, Landscape and Wildlife’, was presented not as a set of digital images in the style which we have got used to, but as a set of audiovisual sequences using slides!

His sequences started with a presentation about the city of Prague starting with general views of the city, then moving onto statues round the clock on the town hall.

He then moved on to what is clearly his passion – wildlife.

Starting with close-up images of butterflies, he moved on to birds.

He showed many images of garden birds and then moved on to birds of prey.

I particularly noted a headshot of a bald eagle.

Les closed the first half of the meeting with images of trees.

Mainly taken in the tropics, there were characterised by bright sun shining on white buildings contrasting with the dark foliage.

The second half of the meeting was devoted to Australia.

Starting with pictures of Aboriginal street performers – painted skin and didgeridoos – he once again moved on to wildlife.

Starting this time with fish, he moved on to the wildlife of the rainforest in Northern Queensland; lizards, koalas, apes etc.

He completed the evening by moving away from wildlife to the city of Sydney at night.

From general shots of the buildings he moved on to the expensive shop fronts.

By expensive, think Gucci, Armani and Versace for clothes, and Maserati and Ferrari for cars!
