A SHARED passion for a British supercar has inspired two friends from Cromhall to set up a unique motor business near Thornbury.

Amoré Autos was established earlier this year by business partners Mark Cosh and Paul Jackson over their love for the manufacturer TVR, aiming to help like-minded people find and maintain their dream car.

Offering a range of services to fans and owners of the manufacturer, the pair, who both left behind careers in the corporate world to start the venture, help interested buyers to source cars.

The other main part of the business is to offer motorists a place to store and maintain their cars at their secure facility near Thornbury.

They also offer test drives, help to organise rallies and advanced driving lectures, and soon hope to venture out into hiring out cars.

Explaining the pair’s obsession with the brand, Mark said that, having driven a variety of cars over the years, from McLarens to Lamborghinis, whilst they are fantastic pieces of engineering, they aren’t affordable, especially for someone with a family.

“But with a TVR, not only can you get one for a good price, you get a car that can even leave most of the others in the pack for dust, while saving yourself £100,000,” he said.

“With a car like this, you want to feel alive, you want to feel your heart beating. That’s what it’s all about and a TVR does that every time you get behind the wheel.”

Paul added: “We have even had people who have turned up simply as a lift for someone coming to collect a car, spent more time in the showroom than their friend and then bought one themselves, simply because their German-made car had no soul by comparison.”

Having started the business as a part-time venture, the pair have found in five months that it has grown to immerse their lives, and by meeting more and more like minded people along the way, it has made it all the more fun.

Mark said that on their journey, there are three types of TVR fans they have come across.

There are the outright fans,” he said, “who want to do their own maintenance, who want to work on their own car, then you have the enthusiasts who just want to work on the fiddly stuff like detailing.

“Finally you have the people who love TVRs but haven’t got the time, so they leave their cars with us and give us a call when they want to take it off for the day or for the weekend.”

Paul added that they had come to realise there was an emerging fourth type of TVR fan through the business.

“There are now the international collectors who are buying them both for enjoyment and as an investment,” he said. “We currently have about half a dozen contacts, from as far abroad as the USA, who we are currently sourcing for.”

Mark said: “To us, and to many of our customers, whether you are on a track day or just out for a cruise with the sun out and top down, being a TVR owner really is living the dream.”
