THE FAMILY of a man killed in a tragic accident on the M5 motorway between Almondsbury and Thornbury have started a fundraising campaign in his memory.

Four people were killed and many more injured on September 16 when a lorry crossed through the central reservation from the southbound carriageway between junctions 15 and 14, hitting at least two cars before going off the edge on the other side.

Adrian Beaumont, 46, had been driving with his wife and two children, aged 12 and 10, when their Seat Leon was hit by the lorry.

Mr Beaumont sadly died following the accident, with his family being rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

His family have set up a Just Giving page, fundraising for the Royal National Lifeguard Institution in his memory, aiming to raise £12,000.

On the page, the family have included a quote from the classic children’s book, Wind in the Willows “There is nothing—absolutely nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”

It is hoped that the funds raised would be enough for an inshore lifeboat which would be dedicated to his memory.
