SEVERAL times during the year we have evenings where a few members are asked to introduce ‘Their Photography’.

On this occasion, three members presented their work; Deanna Pearce, Ken Pearce and Brian McBride.

Deanna went first and started with images taken while travelling across the world from China to the USA.

She then went on to show insects, Puffins on Scomer Island and a Mandarin duck at Slimbridge.

Ken started his presentation with wildlife, starting with Koala bears, he went on to show images of birds, frogs, and lizards.

He finished his presentation of wildlife with lions and tigers photographed at Woburn Abbey.

He went on to show motor bike and car racing in extremely muddy conditions – so muddy that it was not clear how the drivers could tell where they were going.

Brian is a new member who chose to present black and white prints.

Most of his pictures were of architecture.

As he said, the great thing about architecture is that if you don’t like the image you have taken, you can always go back and try again.

We also had one of our regular practical evenings.

Particularly of note was Rose Kemp’s flower arrangement.

Many people queued up to take pictures of it, in fact, there were so many tripods in evidence that I am surprised no-one tripped up over them!

Frank Feeney of Blackwell Camera Club joined us to judge our first regular competitions.

In the print section, Robert England was placed first with ‘Yule Take Steps’, Graham Peers took both second and third places with ‘A Little Pensive’ and ‘In Green Pastures’.

In the beginner projected section, Dave Whitehead’s image ‘US Troop’ was placed first, second was ‘Lake Louise’ by Eirwyn Thomas, and third was ‘Yorkshire Museum’ by Lorna Minshall.

In the advanced projected images, Cheryl Miller was won with ‘Through the Flax Fields’, second was ‘Dark Satanic Mill’ by Andy Gillingham and third was ‘Burj Khalifa’ by Dean Packer.
