There was a good attendance at our AGM. Unfortunately President Val Vizard was ill and Pam Shipp (Secretary) and Mary Travell (Treasurer) conducted the meeting in her absence.

We have 20 members and the meeting began with Pam presenting Tytherington WI’s Annual Report, and Mary the Financial Report.

The Committee for the year was re-elected with the addition of Suzanne Cuff, who will take over the post of researching speakers. Rosa Taylor will keep our records in place of Bernice Evans.

Mary reported that there had been a substantial donation from Tytherington’s Fun Day in August, which would be included in next year’s accounts, and was much appreciated.

The Minutes of the last meeting were read, agreed and signed, and tickets for the Christmas Party on 11 December were on sale. The Group Carol Service will take place at the United Reform Church on 14 December.

The Speaker tonight was Sandy Bateman, who is also a member of  AFWI. Sandy gave an interesting talk on the Bronte Sisters, and the vote of thanks was given by Valerie Niblett.

The competition for a sepia picture was won by Valerie Niblett with Janice Cornock 2nd and Isobel Clutterbuck 3rd.

Our first meeting of the New Year will be held in the Village Hall on Monday, 15 January starting at 2 pm when the Speaker will be David Wallace on the Scilly Isles. Anyone interested is invited to come along.
