THE REWARD of helping young people shape their future is often enough for those working in schools, so to then be told you are outstanding at it, as the New Siblands team have been, must be exhilarating.

When funding is tight for so many schools across the country under austerity, it is fantastic to think that a school working with some of the most disabled can lead the way in standards, passion and commitment.

The fact that “there is no one-size-fits-all” demonstrates just how much each pupil means to the school community and for that everyone there should be applauded.

But if it comes down to a commitment to delivering a quality service, it begs the question as to why all academic institutions cannot achieve such high standards on a consistent basis.

Each Ofsted inspection, while saying what is done well, will give feedback on what needs to be improved, so it is down to the school leaders to integrate those factors into development plans going forward and ensure all aspects, both good and bad, continue to improve.
