A SECRETARY who worked in Thornbury and her husband, originally from Yate, were among a family of four killed in a violent collision while on holiday in Florida.

Sheralyn "Sherry" Stephenson, 56, and husband Bryan, 66, had been passengers in a hire car driven by their 30-year-old son Adam when the crash took place on Monday, April 2, at around 6pm local time.

Sheralyn "Sherry" Stephenson, 56, had been a passenger in a hire car driven by her 30-year-old son Adam when the crash took place on Monday, April 2, at around 6pm local time.

The pair were both killed in the crash, which also claimed the life of her husband Bryan, 66, and daughter-in-law Maryanne, 29.

The family, who live near Warmley in South Gloucestershire, had been on holiday at the time, and it is believed they were returning to their accommodation from a visit to the Kennedy Space Centre, when their hired Mitsubishi hit a pick-up truck on State Road 405 at Sisson Road.

Titusville Police Department, who released the identities of the family, say that the heavy-duty truck violently impacted the passenger side of the small sedan.

Deputy police chief Todd Hutchinson said that emergency personnel were on the scene within a few minutes, but that by then "there was nothing they could do, all four were pronounced deceased at the scene."

Huw Jones, chief operating officer at Star Legal, where Sherry worked, said they were "deeply saddened" by her death.

He added: "Sherry had been a secretary in our Thornbury office for over 20 years and was a highly regarded and much loved member of the team.”

The driver of the Ford pickup truck, 28-year-old James Walsh II was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

GPS in the vehicle was instructing a "U-turn" at the intersection, most likely because of an earlier crash with road blockage on SR 407 - which was the original GPS route from the Space Center for their trip back to Davenport.

This crash remains under investigation by the Titusville Police Department.
