A 32-year-old man who absconded from Leyhill open prison more than two weeks ago is still on the run.

Police are continuing their search for Dean Hammond, who was reported missing on Tuesday, September 18 in the evening.

Hammond has been serving an indeterminate sentence since 2006 when he was convicted for making threats to kill and possession of an offensive weapon.

The prisoner was described by officer as a six-foot white man with a stocky build and dark shaved hair. He has numerous tattoos on his arms and chest.

Detective Constable Nadine Partridge said: "We are continuing in our efforts to locate Dean Hammond and are exploring several lines of enquiry. "We are working closely with Hampshire Police as he has connections to the Southampton area and he may have returned there. However, we have not had any confirmed sightings since he went missing. Someone must have seen him in the past two weeks and I would ask anyone with information to contact the police."

She added: "It may be there are people out there who are helping to evade capture. I am warning those people that we are determined to find Dean Hammond and return him to custody. We will deal robustly with anyone who we find helping him."

Hammond should not be approached. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact police on 999.
