THREE crews were called to a lorry on fire on the M4 motorway last night.

Fire engines from Yate, Bath and Temple stations attended the blaze on the westbound carriageway between junctions 18 (Tormarton) and 19 (M32).

It happened at 6.25pm on Tuesday (January 14).

Avon Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Stephanie Mounsey said crews found the heavy goods vehicle well alight.

“Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using two jets and foam,” she said. “A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hot spots once the fire was out.”

The blaze is believed to have started accidentally.
