A STUDENT from Yate helped has helped beam performances from Glastonbury Festival across the globe.
Ryan Cox, who went to Brimsham Green School and sixth form, had the experience of a lifetime when he travelled to Worthy Farm in Somerset with fellow students and staff from Southampton Solent University.
The 21-year-old was in charge of operating and balancing cameras in The Silver Hayes area which included an amazing line up of the world’s best techno, dance and global acts. Ryan also acted as a mentor to less experienced students during the five days he was on site.
He said: “I enjoyed working in a student-based team creating a live broadcast for the stage and there was great camaraderie between the students and technical supervisors."
The experience was in preparation for Ryan’s chosen career in outside broadcasting, which he has been studying at university.
“The course teaches you the fundamentals and gives you the opportunity to take part in a wide range of events, the most prestigious being Glastonbury Festival,” he added.
After graduating, Ryan would like to work in outside broadcasting for live music events but before that he’ll be helping out at The Open Championship at the Royal Liverpool golf course.
