STALLS were set up inside the Armadillo youth cafe inYate for its summer fete, which raised about £330 for the building's funds.

A poor weather outlook brought everything under cover, except a police stand as officers had their own gazebo to keep themselves dry.

The event was organised after the success of a pre-Christmas fair last year, with stallholders selling items ranging from hair ribbons to books and gifts.

Visitors also had the chance to find out about the activities and facilities provided in the cafe, which opened in 2011.

Sophie Webber, a business administration apprentice at the centre, said: "The money which was raised will be used to buy whatever the young people who use the cafe say is needed. We will sit down with them and see what they want in the building.

"The Christmas fair had been such a big success that we decided to do one for the summer and despite the rain, there was a really nice atmosphere throughout the event."
