THE MALL at Cribbs Causeway could be set for a re-development as its owners begin talks with stakeholders to discuss plans and proposed future investment for the site.

The proposals would bring new retail, leisure and restaurants, community spaces and homes to the area.

The emerging plans could help to create thousands of new jobs.

Improvements to public transport facilities, cycle and pedestrian routes are also being proposed to transform accessibility and promote greener travel in the area.

Cribbs Causeway would also gain a large new public space capable of accommodating a variety of community events or performances.

Philip Vaughan of M&G Real Estate, who part own the centre, said: “When The Mall was built, it promised to bring the very best in national and international retail to the South West, and it succeeded.

“Sixteen years on and it is time to develop the centre so that it can continue to deliver on that promise for generations to come and remain the best-in-class retail and leisure destination in the region.

“We continue to look at how we can make such a development the very best it can be, but it is very important to involve the local community in the process.

This is a very exciting opportunity for Cribbs Causeway, South Gloucestershire and, indeed, the South West and we look forward to sharing more details over the coming weeks.”

There will be a public exhibition later this year, details of which will be announced in due course.
