ALL the emergency services were called to a collision on the M5 in the early hours of this morning.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the southbound carriageway of the motorway, between junctions 14 (Falfield) and 15 (Almondsbury) at 4.25am.

One casualty was already out of the car when rescue workers arrived.

Simon Hatch, a spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service which sent three crews from Thornbury, Patchway and Avonmouth to the accident, said: “Crews made the vehicle and scene safe and assisted ambulance crews.

A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service said that one vehicle was involved and a 39-year-old was treated at the scene.

All lanes are open on the M5 and traffic on the motorway is running smoothly.
