A MAN, convicted of murder, has absconded from Leyhill prison.
Police are appealing for the public's help after Albert Edward Stanley, aged 63, failed to return to the prison following a period of home leave in Guildford, surrey.
He is described as a white male, 5ft 9ins and around 12.5 stone. He has a scar to his left eye and left cheek and a tatoo of a scroll on his right upper arm.
He was last seen on Monday morning wearing blue jeans and a navy jacket with tan lace up shoes, however he may have changed into different clothing.
Albert Edward Stanley was given a life sentence for murder in 1980, committed in East Sussex and was transferred to Leyhill in 2013. He is known to have links with Surrey and Sussex.
Anyone spotting him should not approach him but call the police on 999.
