PEARS grown in Dyrham Park have been turned into perry that will be tasted for the first time during a harvest celebration at the National Trust property.
In recent weeks visitors have helped collect the fruit from the estate's orchard and the event on October 18 and 19 will be the first opportunity to try this year’s batch, along with mulled and hot pear juice varieties.
Other activities planned for the weekend include visitors turning their own pears into juice, an orchard trail for children to follow and a pear-inspired menu being unveiled in the tea-room.
Families will also be able to discover the history and West Country folklore of the fruit.
Beth Taylor, outdoors officer at Dyrham Park, said: “Visitors have been helping us to harvest the pears for weeks now and the Perry Pear Weekend is great chance for families to come and celebrate the harvest with us.”
