HEADLINE acts for the increasingly popular 2015 Sodbury Jazz and Blues Festival have been announced by organisers.

Mike Hurst and the Springfields, the Pasadena Roof Orchestra and the Pee Wee Ellis Assembly are just some of the performers to star in the main event next June 5-7.

The festival team is also negotiating to bring Fairport Convention to Chipping Sodbury Town Hall next Autumn as part of proposals to extend the music beyond jazz and blues.

Since being launched in 2011, the festival has attracted top names to both the main festival and a number of associated concerts held at other times of the year - from Acker Bilk and the late Kenny Ball to Clare Teal and Brian Carrick’s International New Orleans Band.

The town has also played host to Manfred Mann’s Paul Jones and Dave Kelly, Chris Farlowe, Zoot Money and Eddie Martin.

The festival is organised by hotelier Mark Lloyd, who is also experienced in event management, and BBC Radio 2 producer Stuart Hobday.

Stuart said: "Our aim has been to bring well-known artistes to the town. Bristol and Bath are nearby but not everyone can afford the higher prices that tend to be asked there.

“During next year, we’d like to extend the music beyond jazz and blues. But before that, we have the return of Chris Farlowe in December.”

Farlowe, who had hits with Out of Time and Handbags and Gladrags, played at this year’s festival and is returning by popular demand with the Norman Beaker Band.

They will be at the town hall on Thursday, December 11, at 7.30pm. Some of the £20 tickets are still available by visiting www.sodburyjazzandblues.com or calling 01454 334410.

Anyone interested in the 2015 festival performances can register their interest through the website before tickets go on sale next year.
