THE MP for Filton and Bradley Stoke met the chancellor to lobby for funds for the Great Western Air Ambulance and for a new M49 junction.

Jack Lopresti MP, along with the MP for Kingswood Chris Skidmore, met George Osborne on Monday, November 10 to discuss the issues.

Firstly they brought to the chancellor’s attention the Great West Air Ambulance Charity (GWAA) need for funds to run their new helicopter for the first year and asked for money to be made available from the LIBOR Fund, which is made up of fines levied on banks.

Jack Lopresti MP said: “The GWAA like all Air Ambulances is a Charity and as it is one on the most recently formed Air Ambulance Charities it does not have any reserve funds.

“If the Chancellor could provide them with one year’s funds GWAA would be able to put themselves in a sustainable financial footing to continue to serve in the future.”

Secondly Jack and Chris spoke about their support for a junction on the M49 at Avonmouth Severnside – the largest brownfield site in Western Europe – which they believe could improve business links for the region.

Jack Lopresti said: “A junction on the M49 is in my view an essential infrastructure project to unlock Avonmouth Severnside fantastic potential for jobs and growth.”
