OLDER people in South Gloucestershire are getting information about a charity's service along with deliveries of frozen meals.

Well Aware is run by the Care Forum and provides a free health and well-being directory to help people develop new interests and make new friends.

Its website (www.wellaware.org.uk) has more than 5,500 entries and covers the former Avon area, allowing users to search for activities, groups, organisations and services close to their homes.

But the charity wanted to spread the word about its work and particularly wanted to reach those who are isolated or do not use computers.

It has now teamed up with Wiltshire Farm Foods, which is distributing thousands of leaflets about the directory to its customers.

Charity spokesman David Harwood, of Frampton Cotterell, said: “The company provides a weekly free delivery service of frozen meals direct to the homes of customers across Bristol and to all areas with a BS postcode.

"Their service is primarily focused on older people and people with disabilities and I realised that they might be able to reach the people that we most wanted to contact.”
