VOLUNTEERS are needed at Chipping Sodbury’s newest charity shop to raise as much money as possible for vulnerable children.

Barnardo’s opened its doors in September and is looking to recruit a bigger team of volunteers.

The shop in Hatheralls Yard, off the high street, welcomes donations to support the charity’s work with children and young people who are challenged by poverty, abuse, disability and discrimination.

Manager Nicola Bryant said: “Volunteering is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, gain valuable retail experience and support Barnardo’s work with some of the UK’s most disadvantaged children.

“We already have a small team of six volunteers aged from 16-70 years old who do an incredible job, but we could achieve so much more if we had just a few more helping hands.

“We are looking for people from all walks of life, of all ages and with different levels of time to give.

The charity shop has already received lots of donations which are re-sold to raise funds and hopes to recruit help in sorting and pricing the stock, arranging shop displays and serving customers.

Donations in the form of good quality clothes, books, toys, games, accessories and bric-a-brac are welcomed by the manager and her team.

She said: “Volunteers play an incredible role and we simply wouldn’t be able to function without them. They give their time and energy to make an amazing difference to the lives of the most vulnerable children and young people.”
