STAFF and pupils at Silverhill School in Winterbourne got into the Christmas spirit with an outdoor nativity performance.

The nativity play was performed on Thursday, December 11 by the younger members of the main school outside the building.

The performance began at 5pm outside the school, with the children re-telling the nativity story through readings and songs in the dark and with rain coming down on to the grounds.

School principal Julian Capper said: “This year’s nativity play was performed outside with a chorus of sheep baa-ing in the background, singing with gusto through the wind and rain in true British fashion.

“It was a dream come true for the staff who had been planning such an event for an extremely long time. The performance was well attended by the parents who all agreed that the true meaning of Christmas had been acted out that night.”

The play was performed by 55 key stage one children in front of staff and parents to celebrate the festivities at the school on Swan Lane.

Mr Capper added: “It was a moving experience for all concerned and one which will not be forgotten for a very long time to come.”
