RAILWAY enthusiasts and members of the public will be able to look back into the past at a Wickwar railway open day.

Wickwar Brewing Company will hold the open day on Saturday, January 24 where a working scale model showing the Wickwar train station as it would have looked 50 years ago will be on display.

The company is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the last passenger train leaving the now closed station during the event.

Farnham and District Model Railway Club built the working 'N Gauge', scale model showing the station and the surrounding area, and it will be presented to the public during the event in the company’s historic 1860’s brewhouse.

There will also be the opportunity to see the brewing process in action and brewers will also be on hand to answer any questions about the process and history of the brewery.

Executive chairman, Mike Watts, said: “Wickwar Brewing is pleased to be able to open its doors to the public, and celebrate some local history. Our brewhouse itself dates back to the 1860’s, and will provide a fantastic backdrop for the model that the Farnham and District Model Railway Club have built."

The brewery will also be producing a one-off commemorative real ale, ‘Last Train’ which will be available to purchase in the brewhouse and in portable boxes from the shop.

The event will be held between 11am and 3pm at The Old Brewery on Station Road.
