THE Sodbury Vale Model Railway Exhibition will go full steam ahead as it returns to Yate this month.

The annual exhibition will return to the town on Saturday, January 31, at St Mary’s Church and church hall.

The event will see a new 2015 exhibition in the church, on Church Road, modelling demonstrations, trade and society stands and refreshments throughout the day.

Secretary of the Sodbury Vale Model Railway Club, Tim Crockford, said: “This year the exhibition will feature 14 layouts from some of the best modellers in the local area and the south west, including a very innovative exhibit called 'The End of the Line' that features scale remote control vehicles.

“There will also be model railway trade support and a number of modelling demonstrations. Over 700 people visited the 2014 show and we hope to see them all again and more this year."

The Sodbury Vale Model Railway Club was founded in 1976 with members from Yate, Chipping Sodbury and the surrounding South Gloucestershire area.

For the last 30 years, the club has organised an annual model railway exhibition as an opportunity for the club to promote the hobby and show its work as well as that of other invited modellers.
The Yate exhibition will be opened by the town’s Mayor, Wully Perks and the Rector, the Rev Ian Wallace.

The event will run from 10am to 4.30pm and is £5 for adults, £4 for senior citizens and free for accompanied children under 16.
