A WINTERBOURNE student has won three gold medals in synchronised swimming events.

Georgia Denner, 14, who is a student at The Ridings' Federation Winterbourne International Academy, competed at three synchronised swimming events, including two national events, and came home with three gold medals.

Georgia, who lives in Frenchay, is currently studying for her GCSE’s at the academy and achieved the highest award in her events with her team.

She competed at ASA Synchronised Swimming Multi Regional Competition on Sunday, October 19 and the Scottish National Competition on Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26.

She then competed at the National Age Group Synchronised Swimming Championships between Friday, December 5 and Sunday, December 7.

Georgia and her team took gold in all three events, competing on behalf of Bristol Central, finishing with 129.2278 points for the 2014 ASA National Age Group Synchronised Swimming Championships in Gloucester, claiming first place on a routine originally choreographed for the senior team.

Georgia said: “I set my ambitions high, aiming for Olympic standard in the near future. This year has been a big step up, especially in terms of the routine.”

On the day the triple gold medalist said: “We’ve put everything into it to try and do well today.”

She also indicated that the whole team had been working hard to top the podium, narrowly missing out on the title last year to Reading by one point.

Georgia has competed at several events over the past few years, alongside her attending ongoing training in the England Synchronised talent programme.

At the age of 13, Georgia came in third place at the Multi Regional Competition and fourth at the Scottish National Competition in 2012, whilst being part of the team that succeeded at both of these events.

The academy said: “Georgia is a promising talent for Bristol Central’s team, which has a reputation of achieving at high standard competitions.

“We wish Georgie the best of luck for future competitions.”
