DYRHAM and Hinton residents came together to discuss the villages' latest parish plan and suggest ideas to solve issues in the area.

An open event took place on Saturday, February 7 at Dyrham and Hinton Village Hall, when residents and businesses took the opportunity to discuss the parish plan which was published last month.

The plan has been distributed to the residents of the villages after a group of eight residents from both Dyrham and Hinton along with Dick Whittington, from the West of England Rural Network, worked together to create a questionnaire for each household and business to complete.

The questionnaires enabled residents to give their views and ideas on issues such as community facilities, traffic, planning and development.

Ben Stokes, Conservative councillor for Boyd Valley who attended the event, said: “It was an excellent event that gave opportunity for residents to feedback on some of the issues raised in the parish survey.

"Residents were also encouraged to get more involved with the various groups that are hoped to come together under the action plan.

Steve Webb MP for the Liberal Democrats also joined the residents and said: “I’m very grateful to the small but dedicated team of local people who have put together this parish plan.

"It is a very worthwhile document and I hope that many local residents will read it and play their part in putting the plan into action”.

The parish plan committee will observe the results at the next open event which will be held on Tuesday, February 24 at the village hall between 7pm and 9.30pm.
