MEMBERS of the Chipping Sodbury Lions Club have supported a Yate charity by supplying information signs for their community vehicles.

The club donated two information signs to The Willow Tree Centre, based in Abbotswood, which offers help and support to women and their partners facing difficult decisions about pregnancy or the pain of baby loss.

The centre, based at St Nicholas' Family Centre, asked the Chipping Sodbury Lions to sponsor them and help provide the signs on the vehicles which operate across South Gloucestershire, owned by Green Community Travel, and received them on Friday, February 13.

Joy Fussell, retiring centre director at The Willow Tree Centre, said: "We asked the Lions if they could help us about six weeks ago and their response was very quick and just fantastic.

"They have supported us faithfully before, for the past 10 years or so now, and are excellent at raising funds for the whole community.

"The donation of the new signs is very much appreciated and it will make a significant difference to the vehicles, which are used to transport many people, including the elderly, disabled and school runs."

A spokesman for the Chipping Sodbury Lions Club said: “We are delighted to support such a wonderful organisation as The Willow Tree Centre that has helped so many women to overcome very real difficulties in their lives.”

The Willow Tree Centre came into being 10 years ago and relies largely on grants, donations and its own fund-raising events.

Green Community Travel, based in Yate, provide a variety of transport including a programme of visits and outings to address social isolation.
