A MAN buying a house in Yate surprised his girlfriend with a romantic proposal set up with help from their Chipping Sodbury estate agent on the day of their new home hand-over.

Adam Tilley, 30 organised the proposal to his girlfriend Georgina Coade, 29, on the same day as their official handing over of keys to their new home in Broadway, Yate.

The couple had been renting for four years in Horfield and on the final hand-over day in their new home, on Thursday, February 12, Mr Tilley had organised to  go into the house earlier than planned to set up a projector and balloons for the proposal, with help from a Milburys estate agent.

Mr Tilley said: "I started properly planning the proposal about a week in advance but I was thinking about doing it for a few months before.

"It was mainly done through the projector which was playing a homemade video, full of memories of me and Georgina and with a meaningful song to us playing in the background.

"The day went weirdly perfectly to plan with no glitches, it is unusual for me as plans often go wrong.

"I had everything set up OK in the morning when Rachael from the Chipping Sodbury branch let me in - Georgina had no idea. I was incredibly nervous on the day."

The couple have been together for five years after meeting through an online dating website.

Miss Coade, who said "yes" to the proposal, commented: "It's all been a bit overwhelming really, I had absolutely no idea he was planning on doing it. Adam is the kind of person who focuses on one main thing at a time, so I am just so surprised that he managed to sort out the house and proposal on the same day.

"It was also a big surprise that Rachael from Milburys was in on the whole thing, she knew as we were given the keys and I am amazed it was all kept so secret.

"It's amazing how your life can change so much in one day."

Rachael Williams, from Milburys Estate Agents Ltd, who knew about the planned proposal, said: ""Adam and Georgina are a lovely young couple who purchased their first home together through our Chipping Sodbury office.

"When Adam informed us of his plan we were all so excited and wanted to share this feel good story with our clients.

"We wish them all the best for the future and we were delighted to be part of two such exciting life events for Adam and Georgina."

Miss Coade added: "We hope to get married at the beginning of in Spring next year, but right now we are going to tackle having a new home and then we can put together concrete wedding plans."
