UP to 2,450 new homes in Yate will be considered at a development meeting tomorrow.

The proposal, on land North of Brimsham Park, includes a mixed used development across 100.76 hectares of land comprising up to 2,450 new dwellings, extra care housing, 4.63 hectares of employment land, provision of a local centre, two primary schools, together with the supporting infrastructure and facilities including new vehicular and pedestrian accesses, public open space and landscaping.

The proposed scheme was originally grant approval subject to the signing of a S106 agreement by members at the Development Control Committee on November 7 last year.

Following that resolution the developers have sought changes to the approved plans, as well as a change to the description of development following a decision by them to underground the power lines that cross part of the site.

Proposed amendments include under-grounding of power cables that cross the site and reduction of employment land from 5.11 hectares to 4.63 hectares.

The reduction of storey heights on the edges of the site, and minor amendments to the secondary highway route within the site will also be discussed at the meeting.

A South Gloucestershire Council spokesman said: "This item is due to be determined by members of the Development Control East Committee at the meeting, held at 3pm in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre, High Street, in Kingswood."
