A CHARITY event will see 150 runners from across South Gloucestershire take part in a 5k cross country run to raise funds for an Old Sodbury school.

The run, called the Old Sodbury Scramble, will take place on Sunday, March 8 to raise money for Old Sodbury Church Of England Primary School.

All 150 participants will run across the slopes of the Cotswold Escarpment as part of the fund-raiser organised by charity The Friends of Old Sodbury School Association (FOSSA).

Simon Bateman, FOSSA member and event organiser, said: “We are holding the second Old Sodbury Scramble this Sunday to raise funds for Old Sodbury School.

“We did it last year, it was a little more modest with only 55 runners, but this year it is a lot bigger and the running community seem to be getting excited about it.

“With lots of mud and steep hills it is quite a challenge.”

The course will start behind the primary school on Church Lane at 10.00am and will finish back in the school field, where prizes will be awarded for first male and female, with a medal for all runners.
