THE fate of the West Walk Surgery in Yate is a warning to all of us of the dangers of internet security and online banking.
Whether you side with the doctors or Natwest over who is to blame, it shouldn’t be so easy for online thieves to steal £31,000 from a bank account in a matter of moments.
And the patients at the practice will suffer for this crime, as the £9,000 which has not been recouped by the surgery means that planned upgrades to equipment will have to wait.
With branches closing across the country, more and more of us are having to do our banking online and therefore putting ourselves at risk.
It is a scary thought that we may not be able to trust that our money is safe.
