THE new First Bus citywide bus schedule was launched yesterday with the aim of offering users a more punctual and reliable service.

The operator’s new schedule will be tested on its first weekday today.

First Bus has recruited 70 new drivers and 12 new buses as part of the changes and a new X48 route between the city centre and the new Lyde Green development.

Some services have been completely redesigned while others have retained the normal route but adjusted timetables to provide additional journeys at peak times.

Changes include an extra two buses added to service 24 between Southmead Hospital and Ashton Vale and additional journeys on the service 43 at peak times between Kingswood and the city centre, while an extra vehicle will be used during the day on services 44 and 45.

Bus users are strongly advised to check the new timetable to ensure they understand the changes.
