EASTER treats were exchanged early in Yate as Tesco's donated 250 chocolates eggs to the council's annual Easter Egg Extravaganza event.

The supermarket donated the confectionary prizes to the council on Saturday, March 28, in preparation for the return of the town's popular egg hunt and Easter bonnet parade.

The free event, which is set to take place in Kingsgate Park on Easter Monday, April 6 from 10am to 12pm, will see children aged 12 years-old and under join in a treasure hunt where a chocolate egg will be given to each child taking part.

Yate Town Council is holding the event in conjunction with The Friends of Kingsgate Park.

Many other organisations have supported the event this year including Avon Sports Ground Maintenance, Dodington Parish Council, Landcare, Morrisons Supermarkets, NSG Security Group Ltd (UK), Re-energise, the Rotary Club and J Hollister.

Cllr Tony Davis said: "The event is much-loved and highly anticipated event in the town and we are very grateful for all the contributions we have received for it this year.

"Thanks to everyone who has supported us, and donated money and prizes and now are just hoping for good weather, a good turnout and that everyone who comes along has a great time."

The council and The Friends of Kingsgate Park would like to extend a big thank you to all the local businesses and Dodington Parish Council who have kindly made donations towards the event.
