YATE Heritage Centre has had another successful year and stayed within budget, it was reported by trustees at a town council meeting.

The Yate and District Heritage Centre Trust provided a report to residents and councillors at the town council's annual meeting on Tuesday, April 28, stating that the centre, on Church Road, had stayed within budget while providing a range of events, lectures, displays and children's workshops.

Chair of the trustees, Susan Tubey, said: "The centre is a town facility and all the building running costs and staffing costs are met by the council who also help fund various events and exhibitions.

"The town council, volunteers, The Friends of Yate Heritage Centre group, the trustees and the management committee working in partnership are providing a fantastic well used facility in our town which as well as providing local history information brings people of all ages together.

"The trust is extremely grateful to all the businesses, local organisations, Yate Town Council and South Gloucestershire Council for all their financial support."

The trust is currently working with the town council and community to discuss the possibility of extending the Heritage Centre to provide much needed additional space.
