CYCLISTS from across the South West are sought to take part in a 500-mile Bristol charity challenge.
The annual Bristol to Bordeaux challenge sees a team of 60 riders from across the UK, cycle over a period of four days, and this year aims to raise more than £50,000 for PROPS, a charity which provides opportunities and support for those with special needs.
Organisers are looking to fill the remaining places in the ride, which leaves Bristol Temple Quay on July 1 and finishes at the Girondins Fountain in Quinconces square, Bordeaux, on July 4.
The charity survives by generating its own funds through sporting events such as the bike ride and is based at the Vassall Centre in Bristol, providing a range of life enhancing opportunities for young people when they have left school.
Chair of the charity’s trustees, Kevin Smith, said: “With the efforts of our bike riders and the generosity of our supporters we continue to bring real benefit to the lives of disabled youngsters and their families.
“We are looking for keen cyclists to get on board this year, take on the challenge and help us to smash our £50,000 fundraising target.”
Riders can choose between a 300 mile ‘classic’ ride (roughly 80-miles per day) and a 500 mile ‘extreme’ (125-miles per day) version.
