AN 11-YEAR-OLD girl from Yate appeared on ITV talent contest ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and danced her way to success, receiving four “yes” votes getting them through to the next stage of the show.

Brimsham Green student Eloise Stroud appeared on the talent contest on Saturday, May 16 as part of dance crew Groove Thing, who performed a hip-hop routine to the 70s classic ‘Shake Your Groove Thing’ by Peaches and Herb.

The contest gives applicants a chance to compete with other performers in front of celebrity judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams and a live audience, with a chance to go through to the live finals, broadcast on television.

The overall winner is given the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance in front of members of the British Royal Family, including either Queen Elizabeth II or the Prince of Wales, and also receive a cash prize of £250,000.

The group of 12 dancers, aged between seven and 11, performed in front of celebrity judges with their routine at the Dominion Theatre in Birmingham and received a “yes” vote from all four on the panel.

Year seven pupil Eloise, who travels to Wales every weekend to dance in the Port Talbot-based dance troupe, from TDM Stageschool and Dance Academy, is now one step closer to the live finals.

Her mum Lisa said: “I am really proud of them. We were all really excited and nervous at the same time before the audition and it was great to see them all on stage.

“If they get through to the live finals it would be amazing to get local support.”

The results of the competitors who have made it through to the live shows will be revealed on Saturday, May 23.
