ANIMAL lovers are sought to volunteer at a leading pet charity’s shops in Yate and Chipping Sodbury.

Blue Cross is appealing to local volunteers in their Yate shop, at 14 North Walk in the shopping centre and Chipping Sodbury shop, at 23 High Street, as part of Volunteer’s Week, which started on Monday.

The charity hopes to recruit as many people as possible to help out with a variety of tasks including sorting and organising stock, helping customers and serving on the till.

Tracie Burnett, Blue Cross Shop manager in Chipping Sodbury, said: “We’re looking for anyone who can regularly spare a few hours a week to help us in the shop.

“We have a great team here and volunteering can be a fun way to meet new people. Working in the charity shop also goes a long way to help pets in need.”

Blue Cross helps thousands of unwanted, abandoned, sick and injured pets every year and the money raised through its network of charity shops is vital to help them continue their work.

The charity currently runs four animal hospitals and 12 rehoming centres across the UK and actively campaigns to improve all aspects of animal welfare.
