MASSAGES and cool-down yoga will be offered to cyclists at this year's Saddleback Sodbury Sportive by two locally based health businesses.

The Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury, which organises the event, has revealed that The Tollhouse Clinic and Yoga-in have chosen to support participants on the day.

The Tollhouse Clinic will offer participants a 20-minute massage in return for a minimum fee of £10, which will be donated to the riders' chosen charity.

Yoga-in will also be on hand with a 20-minute cool down yoga session to help weary cyclists once they have completed the course.

Claire Sokell, sports massage therapist at Tollhouse, said: “We are kept very busy at sporting events including the London Marathon and locally with the Hogweed Trotters and Chipping Sodbury Tennis Club. Sports massage as a remedial treatment can help to heal soft tissue and most sports related injuries. We are delighted to once again be involved with the Sportive”.

Nazama Tague, from Yoga-in, said: “We look forward to our first Sportive and the opportunity to work with the riders, Yoga has been recognised by cyclists such as Sir Bradley Wiggins and many other athletes as a way of creating flexibility in the muscles and spine and therefore reducing the risk of injury”.

Starting and finishing in Chipping Sodbury, the event offers a choice of three distances- 100 miles, 60 miles or 30 miles.

The event will start at 7am on Sunday, August 16, at Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club.
