THE public are encouraged to comment on a solar panel scheme in Pucklechurch currently under consultation by South Gloucestershire Council (SGC).

The council is investigating the potential for a ground-mounted, photovoltaic (PV) solar panel scheme at Leigh Farm 1, in two fields located to the North of the M4 motorway, one of the council’s tenanted small holdings.

Before SGC decide whether to submit a planning application for the scheme they would like to hear the views of local residents and stakeholders on the proposals, which aim to increase the generation of renewable energy, reduce carbon emissions and increase energy security.

The panels will also generate income for the council and the community.

A SGC spokesman said: “SGC are welcoming comments on the consultation until July 15, and there will be a drop in exhibition where council officers will be available to answer questions about the proposals at Pucklechurch Community Centre, Abson Road on Tuesday, June 30 from 3pm to 7.30pm.

“Once the consultation closes the council will consider all views submitted before a decision is taken on whether to submit a planning application for the solar panel project.”
