LONELY bouquets were scattered around South Gloucestershire by a Latteridge company to promote British Cut Flower Week and brighten up strangers’ days.

Organic Blooms placed 35 bouquets of cut flowers around the county from Monday, June 15 to Friday, June 19, with a note telling the receiver to take it home.

Owner of Organic Blooms Jo Wright also encouraged bouquet-finders to take a photograph of themselves with their flowers and share it on social media.

Mrs Wright, 42, said: “We had a fantastic response, it’s just been amazing.

“I thought it would be a quirky way for people to enjoy flowers while raising awareness of British Flower Week.

“The first response we got was on the Tuesday, and then after that people seemed to really get into it, looking out for them and sharing pictures and leaving us lovely messages of thanks."

Bouquets of mixed cut country cottage flowers were scattered around Yate Shopping Centre, Chipping Sodbury High Street and Thornbury High Street to name a few.

Mrs Wright added: “We put the bouquets on the most random places, from park benches to post boxes, and even sent out people with them to leave somewhere they chose – like lifts in buildings.
“We found the more the random the place the better – and we will definitely be doing this again, even on a monthly basis.

“The responses have been lovely as more keep coming through, it’s been a real community project.”

Sophie Mills-Thomas, 24, who found a bouquet in a lift in Bristol, said: “I think this is a wonderful piece of marketing, and a lovely way to brighten someone’s day. Thank you to Organic Blooms."
