A ROADSHOW offering people affected by dementia with advice will take place in Warmley.

South Gloucestershire residents are invited to a ‘Living Well with Dementia’ free roadshow taking place in Warmley next month, aimed at anyone who has recently been diagnosed with dementia, as well as their carers or relatives.

Angie Marsh, commissioning manager for Ageing Well and Dementia at South Gloucestershire Council, said: “The roadshow will offer people affected by dementia with practical, emotional and health advice.

“Being diagnosed with dementia can leave the person with dementia and their family with lots of questions about what they can expect and what they can do to plan for the future.

"This roadshow will provide useful information to help answer these questions and provide reassurance that people with the condition are not on their own."

During the roadshow, which is run in partnership with the Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), South Gloucestershire Council, Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, Alzheimer’s Society and Well Aware and Dementia Web, a local GP and experts will be on hand to answer questions.

Attendees will receive a specialist’s guide to medication and treatment and there will also be talks on managing legal affairs and a practical session focusing on memory techniques and tips.

Dr Peter Bagshaw, the clinical lead for dementia at the CCG, said: “The roadshow will provide a good opportunity for both who have been recently diagnosed with dementia and their friends and family to find out more.

“We hope the event will raise awareness of dementia and help reduce the stigma around the condition.”

The roadshow is part of a series of ‘Living Well with Dementia’ events and will take place from 2pm until 4.30pm at The Batch in Park Road on Tuesday, July 14.
